Friend of ChiTech: the Motorola Solutions Foundation
We are more than excited to have the Motorola Solutions Foundation as a sponsor for Little Black Dress Night 2018. The Motorola Solutions Foundation is the charitable and philanthropic arm of Motorola Solutions, which creates innovative, mission-critical communication solutions and services that help public safety and commercial customers build safer cities and thriving communities.
Recently, employees from Motorola Solutions have mentored ChiTech students in the ISTI challenge. The company has also donated a grant to the school that allowed the administration to purchase a 3D printer for student use.
Dedication to STEM Education
The foundation believes in supporting the next generation of innovators and change-makers is vital. Their passion for developing a future generation of tech leaders and igniting an interest in STEM careers in young people is one of the many reasons why ChiTech loves partnering with them.
ISTI Challenge
The Illinois Science and Technology Institution (ISTI) challenge poses students with a real-world problem and gives them the opportunity to devise a solution with the help of mentors. This year, four ChiTech students collaborated with employees from Motorola Solutions (Ashley Wentzel, Prash Ramani, Doney Maxey, Jackson Neff, Brad Janitz, Anthony Lauderdale, and Maggie Abbott) to come up with a new technology for first responders that would enhance their communication abilities in emergency situations. As a company that works to create safer cities, they were the perfect partner for this challenge, and their advice proved helpful to our students in their final presentation later that day.
3D Printer
In addition to encouraging young innovators, the Motorola Solutions Foundation is a proponent of providing technology and engineering education grants. The company recently gave ChiTech a grant to purchase a 3D printer for the school. This has allowed the students to bring their ideas to life for class-related projects. The printer’s abilities give the students a more comprehensive and tangible way to showcase their efforts, and they are already talking about all of the cool ideas they have to use the printer.
ChiTech is so grateful for Motorola Solutions Foundation’s commitment to educating future leaders and innovators like our students.
