Assistant Principal Tiara Wheatley

Ms. Wheatley joined ChiTech in 2011 and throughout the years has overseen operations, parent engagement, school culture and student engagement. This year, she will continue to lead the school’s communication, development, and corporate engagement, in addition to school culture, efforts as well as our 6th annual Little Black Dress Night in May 2020.

This Surge Chicago Fellowship program brings together a group of 20-25 diverse education leaders through 11 months of individual goal-setting and 360 feedback, executive skills development, personalized coaching, connecting to aspirational leaders, and building transformative relationships.

Principal Keith Palz said, “Having spent nearly a decade at ChiTech, Tiara is undoubtedly one of the most dedicated individuals in our learning community.” He continued, “we are all so happy for her, and lucky to have her representing us in the spotlight through this fellowship.”

“Throughout my career in education, and during my time at ChiTech, I have gained a deep commitment to service – service to ChiTech and service to serving the educational community in Chicago and beyond,” Wheatley said. “I am so grateful for this opportunity to be selected for the Surge Fellowship and I can’t wait to see what the next year brings,” Wheatley added.

The Surge Institute first began serving Chicago communities in 2015, and the total number of Surge Chicago Alumni reached nearly 100 education leaders of color this past August. Congratulations, Ms. Wheatley!
