FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chicago, IL, April 14, 2020 — Chicago Tech Academy’s Young Women’s Leadership Society and ActiveCampaign will present the 6th Annual Little Black Dress Night on Wednesday, May 20, 2020. A sell-out event, Little Black Dress Night features networking, a conversation with tech leaders, and inspiring words from AnitaB CEO, Brenda Wilkerson and Illinois CIO and Secretary of Innovation and Technology, Ron Guerrier. In response to our changing circumstances, this year’s event will be held in a virtual format.

Building upon the success and impact of the first five years, Chicago Tech Academy is bringing together local and international CEOs and leaders to share thoughts on tech education and diversity in the tech industry. Featured panelists at the event embody the pioneer spirit, leadership, and grit that ChiTech’s Young Women’s Leadership Society cultivates.

“At ChiTech, our mission is to prepare students for technology-related careers through hands-on courses and connections with Chicago’s leading tech pioneers through real world learning experiences and partnerships” said Tiara Wheatley, Assistant Principal and YWLS Founder. AnitaB President and CEO Brenda Wilkerson will offer opening remarks and introduce the central component of the night: a panel moderated by serial entrepreneur, Colleen Egan.

Joining Colleen on this panel are World Business Chicago CEO, Andrea Zopp, Black Women in Science & Engineering (BWISE) Chicago Director, Leslie McKinney, Jellyvision CEO, Amanda Lannert, and Groupon CTO, John Higginson

State of Illinois’ CIO and Secretary of Innovation and Technology, Ron Guerrier is the closing keynote speaker. This year’s speakers will inspire and expose students and guests to the many routes leading to success all while bringing light to the diversity challenges currently faced by the tech industry.
